The Right of Access to a Lawyer in Criminal Proceedings:
Best Practice and Implementation

Tuesday, 26 January, 6.30pm-8.00pm
The Westbury Hotel, Grafton St, Dublin 2

The recent Supreme Court judgment of DPP v Gormley and White has radically changed the law regarding the provision of legal advice in police custody. But how is this working in practice and what can we learn from the experience of practitioners in other European Union jurisdictions?

Speakers at this event will include:

Libby McVeigh, Legal and Policy Director, Fair Trials International,
and
Shalom Binchy, Shalom Binchy and Co. Solicitors

This event will be of particular interest to key actors within the criminal justice process such as government officials, criminal law practitioners and those working directly or indirectly with people who may be in contact with the criminal justice system.

The ICCL will also be launching its latest publication:

Implementation of the Right of Access to a Lawyer: Training Manual

and

JUSTICIA educational animation on the right to a fair trial.

Wine and Canapé reception upon arrival.

If you have any specific needs (e.g. sign language interpreters, wheelchair accessibility, etc.), please let us know in advance.
