The international Network of Civil Liberties Organisations (INCLO), of which ICCL is a member, is recruiting a Comunications Consultant to support its work.  Dealdine for applications is 30th June, and details are set out here.

The International Network of Civil Liberties Organizations (INCLO) is a network of independent national human rights organizations working to promote fundamental rights and freedoms by supporting and mutually reinforcing the work of the member organizations working in their respective countries and collaborating on a bilateral and multilateral basis.

The members of the INCLO are: the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU); the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI); the International Human Rights Group Agora (AGORA); the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA); the Centro de Estudios Legales y Sociales (CELS); the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR); the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN); the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (HCLU); the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL); the Kenya Human Rights Commission; the Legal Resource Center (LRC); and Liberty.

INCLO members work jointly on four thematic issues: police brutality and social protest; informational rights; religious freedom and equal treatment; and closing space for civil society.

INCLO is looking for a perferably full-time communications consultant to coordinate with the communication directors of every member organization.

Post Title: Communications Consultant for INCLO

Location: tbd

Duration: initial period of 3 months with possibility of extension.

Reports to: the Program Coordinator. He/She will work closely with the 12 INCLO member Communications Directors.

Overall purpose of the post: To develop a communications strategy for INCLO which includes expanding to social media and coordinating efforts between communications directors of each member organization. One of the main objectives of INCLO is to amplify the voice and efforts of its member organizations. External communications plays a key role in doing this effectively. While INCLO has already began to establish its digital presence in the international human rights community with the launch of its website in June 2016, there remains much to be done in terms of strategically communicating and disseminating INCLO’s actions.

Major activities for which this post is held accountable:

Communications Consultant for INCLO includes:

o Coordinates communication actions with Communications Directors, as a group and bilaterally

o Coordinates instant reactions with INCLO Chairs and EDs

o Early coordination on products with Focal Points of 4 lines of work

o Develops Checklist of Communciations conmponents of INCLO products (jointly with Comms Directors)

o Oversees Communication Program for INCLO events and reports

o Keeps Annual Communication Agenda

o Repository of media coverage

o Organises Capacity Building for members

o INCLO website maintenance

o Plans Translations / languages of INCLO products

o Defines and organises INCLO communication processes

o Involvement in fundraising and budgeting projects

o Participation in thematic meetings of 4 lines of work

 

The qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience

Required:

 Knowledge and work experience on human righs issues

 3+ years of experience in Communications in the non-governmental sector

 Excellent Communication and writing skills

 Excellent command of English (currently the working language of INCLO)

 Fluency in one more language of INCLO members: Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Hungarian, Hebrew.

 Programme and project management

 Strategic capability and leadership

 Organisational skills

 Computer skills

 People management

 Cultural sensitivity

 Knowledge of and commitment to the realisation of human rights
