The Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Initiative (ESCRI) is a coalition of over 60 civil society organisations that support strengthening the protection of economic, social and cultural rights in the Irish Constitution.

This event will bring together a range of stakeholders to discuss how enforceable ESC rights such as housing and health would impact on individuals and groups in Ireland, drawing on experiences from other States where ESC rights have been given legal protection.
Keynote address:
- Jamie Burton – Public Lawyer, Doughty Street Chambers
Jamie Burton is a public lawyer with expertise in judicial review and human rights. His main areas of practise are human rights, social and clinical care, housing, social security and actions against the police. He acted in several important cases which challenged central government cuts to public services pursuant to the Equality Act 2010. He regularly appears in the higher courts, including the Supreme Court. Jamie is head of the Doughty Street Community Care and Health Team and is a leading authority on the Care Act 2014.
