Invite: Know Your Rights – A Guide for Older People

 

What is Know Your Rights: A Guide for Older People?

The Guide provides up to date practical information on the rights of older people in Ireland on a range of issues. The launch will be followed by an information session briefly outlining the content of the Guide.

Questions, discussions and feedback will be encouraged at this event. The event should be of interest to older people and their representatives, community organisations, information providers and advice-givers.

The guide provides useful information on a number of themes including:

•         Your Rights in relation to the State Pension
•         Retirement age
•         Your Right to Health and Community Care
•         Private Health Insurance
•         Your Rights as a Consumer
•         Your Rights to Access Information and Data Protection
•         Elder Abuse
•         Other Information and Useful Contacts

What is the ICCL Know Your Rights public information project?
The ICCL Know Your Rights public information project is designed to inform people in clear and accessible language about their rights under various areas of the law in Ireland through a series of accessible informational packs available in print and online. To date the ICCL has produced seven information booklets across a number of themes.  The booklets are written in everyday language and approved by the National Adult Literacy Agency as written in plain English.

 

ICCL will be hosting roadshows in the following locations:

 

Friday 27 May, 12pm-2pm – Galway
Venue: Westside Resource Centre, Seamus Quirke Road, Galway

Monday 30 May 2.30pm-4.30pm – Cork
Venue: Togher Community Centre, Togher Rd, Cork

Tuesday 31 May, 2pm – Dublin
Venue: St Andrews Resource Centre, Pearse St, Dublin 2
