An open letter on procedural rights was sent today to to Ministers of 5 EU States by the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, JUSTICE, Fair Trials International, Open Society Justice Initiative, Amnesty International, European Institutions Office and the European Criminal Bar Association.

The letter concerns the resistance of the governments of the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, France and Belgium to the new EU directive regarding access to a lawyer during questioning.
