EVENT: Abortion Laws and Human Rights - Global Experiences

The International Network of Civil Liberties Organisations (INCLO), along with the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL), invites you to a day-long conference from 8:30am on 8 November at Science Gallery Dublin, to hear from organisations and activists working on reproductive rights, as well as a keynote address by UN women’s rights expert, Frances Raday.

Across the globe, human rights activists face the challenge of ensuring bodily autonomy under restrictive governments. Even in countries where more liberal legal frameworks are in place, there are difficulties in aligning law and practice. What are the strategies employed to deal with this globally?

Speakers will include Louise Melling of the American Civil Liberties Union, Les Allamby of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, as well as panellists from Argentina, Kenya, India, South Africa, Colombia and Hungary.

Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and lunch will be provided. Registration, with coffee, will begin at 8:30am. Please RSVP to rsvp@iccl.ie.
